My e-Portfolio will demonstrate my interdisciplinary because the work that I have submitted to my e-portfolio covers all of my different areas and allow me to express myself and feelings in all of my areas. I don’t not think that I will need to use my e-portfolio for a job because of my intended field but if I were going to be applying to full-time jobs I would use some of my pieces to better explain my IDS degree to a future employer and why I chose the path that I did. And I must say am I far from an artistic person when it comes to designing things so I would probably make my portfolio very organized and easy to move around making it stand out for that rather than for being very eye catching. I think some of the work that could be used as evidence are the power points that were I put together that incorporated a person for all of my areas of study and show how having all that in one person instead of needing three individuals is very beneficial .

Like Jessica, I believe my e–Portfolio will demonstrate all the areas of my interdisciplinary studies. I plan to have 4 different areas in my e-portfolio including, health science, life & biomedical sciences, commerce, and psychology. I changed my part of my major from life & biomedical sciences to commerce last spring so I have ample credits in all my areas of discipline. Because of this, I figure why not show all my areas of study in my portfolio. I am not sure whether or not I will need to use my e-Portfolio to obtain a job after I graduate due to my internship. However, I still plan on putting my best work in it because I never know what the future may hold. One of my pieces of work I plan to use was from my physiology class, where we had to make a PowerPoint and perform a presentation on an illness in which I happened to go through prior to the semester. I believe by using this assignment it will show some of the adversity I have had to overcome to be where I am at now. As far as the lay out goes I plan to use earth tone colors and have a well organized and thought out portfolio to really show the type of person I am.

I am a lot like Jess, my intended field doesn't really require the type of application that e-Portfolio would be used for. I actually want to be a hair stylist and eventually own a salon/spa one day! It was a good idea though that you had to use the e-Portfolio to help explain IDS. I always feel like when I tell people my major, I get this funny look and maybe e-Portfolio could be used to sort of smooth out the details for them. Hopefully I will be able to explain how my Interdisciplinarity is an integration of business sense with a deeper understanding of people skills and society.
ReplyDeleteMy e-portfolio will show my interdisciplinary to others by linking my three areas of study together. It will allow them to see how I am integrating the areas to create a major that gives me a good background to have for applying to law school. Although I don’t believe law schools will look at it, it will give me another sort of resume to submit to them. I would like my Legal Studies major to stick out in my e-Portfolio from the other areas of study, because my main focus is getting into law school. Some of the things that I will be using as evidence are law papers that I have written and sample documents that I have prepared in my law classes.
ReplyDeleteChris, it sounds like you have a really good plan to showcase your legal studies focus for law school. It's a good idea to use your documents and papers as evidence. It will give more support for your abilities during your admissions process if like you said they choose to look through your e-Portfolio. I wonder how someone would go about actually trying to present the e-Portfolio during an admissions situation now that I think about it?
ReplyDeleteEmily, I too belive that it would be hard to use the e-portfolio for the career path you have chosen. However, you might be able to use something similar to post the services you offer and diplay previous pictures of things you have done for people.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a really good idea Chris. I hadn't really thought of using the e-Portfolio as a type of real portfolio outside of just academic purposes. It would be awesome if I could maybe incorporate the pictures and services like you said under my Commerce section. Thanks for the tip, that was really helpful!
ReplyDeleteMy e-Portfolio will demonstrate my interdisciplinary through the work I will display covering all my major and minor areas. The main audience for my e-Portfolio is the admissions committee to the dental schools I will be applying to. Also, any possible jobs I would like to apply for I would use the e-Portfolio as a resume. I would like my e-Portfolio to be professional, appealing, and simple. I am a straight forward person and I would like my e-Portfolio to also be straight forward and clear cut. As evidence to strengthen my e-Portfolio I will list my accomplishments, skills, and grades.
ReplyDeleteDavid have you given any thought to how you are going to incorporate your e-portfolio in the admissions process? I ask this since since most schools have a certain format they want you to follow and don't include a place for you to give them your e-portfolio.
ReplyDeleteChris, to tell you the truth I haven’t looked into how I will actually apply my e-portfolio to my dental application. Similar to how you are applying to law school and using your e-portfolio as an extra source, I am also keeping the e-portfolio as an extra source to display my skills and course work.
